IMPORTANT

This version is in moderation and has not yet been approved. This means it doesn't show up under normal search.

  • Until approved, you should consider this package version unsafe - it could do very bad things to your system (it probably doesn't but you have been warned, that's why we have moderation).
  • This package version can change wildly over the course of moderation until it is approved. If you install it and it later has changes to this version, you will be out of sync with any changes that have been made to the package. Until approved, you should consider that this package version doesn't even exist.
  • You cannot install this package under normal scenarios. See How to install package version under moderation for more information.
  • There are also no guarantees that it will be approved.
WARNING

There are versions of this package awaiting moderation (possibly just this one). See the Version History section below.

User 'mica' (maintainer) submitted package.

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 16 Feb 2024 01:39:45 +00:00:

infekt has passed automated validation. It may have or may still fail other checks like testing (verification).
NOTE: No required changes that the validator checks have been flagged! It is appreciated if you fix other items, but only Requirements will hold up a package version from approval. A human review could still turn up issues a computer may not easily find.

Guidelines

Guidelines are strong suggestions that improve the quality of a package version. These are considered something to fix for next time to increase the quality of the package. Over time Guidelines can become Requirements. A package version can be approved without addressing Guideline comments but will reduce the quality of the package.

  • Summary (summary) is a short explanation of the software. Please include summary in the nuspec. More...

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 16 Feb 2024 11:46:09 +00:00:

infekt has been flagged as part of automated virus scanning.
Package virus scanning found that at least 1 file within, or downloaded by, the package has greater than 10 VirusTotal detections associated with it.
This package is now in a waiting state while you review the findings and provide an updated package, or send a message in the package review box on the package page.

mica (maintainer) on 19 Feb 2024 08:42:00 +00:00:

These are apparently false positives caused by the installer, Inno Setup. I'm guessing it must've been used at some point as an installer for actual malware, causing less sophisticated antivirus systems to indiscriminately auto-flag subsequent instances of it. This seems to be a common complaint.

TheCakeIsNaOH (reviewer) on 16 Mar 2024 21:02:53 +00:00:

Hi,

Unfortunately, the current moderation guidelines on the scanner is that packages with file(s) that have 10+ positives are not able to be approved or exempted.

Regards, TheCakeIsNaOH

We've found infekt v1.3.0 in a submitted status and waiting for your next actions. It has had no updates for 20 or more days since a reviewer has asked for corrections. Please note that if there is no response or fix of the package within 15 days of this message, this package version will automatically be closed (rejected) due to being stale.

Take action:

  • Log in to the site and respond to the review comments.
  • Resubmit fixes for this version.
  • If the package version is failing automated checks, you can self-reject the package.

If your package is failing automated testing, you can use the chocolatey test environment to manually run the verification and determine what may need to be fixed.

Note: We don't like to see packages automatically rejected. It doesn't mean that we don't value your contributions, just that we can not continue to hold packages versions in a waiting status that have possibly been abandoned. If you don't believe you will be able to fix up this version of the package within 15 days, we strongly urge you to log in to the site and respond to the review comments until you are able to.

chocolatey-ops (reviewer) on 07 May 2024 13:28:42 +00:00:

Unfortunately there has not been progress to move infekt v1.3.0 towards an approved status within 15 days after the last review message, so we need to close (reject) the package version at this time. If you want to pick this version up and move it towards approval in the future, use the contact site admins link on the package page and we can move it back into a submitted status so you can submit updates.

Status Change - Changed status of package from 'submitted' to 'rejected'.

infekt has been flagged as part of automated virus scanning.
Package virus scanning found that at least 1 file within, or downloaded by, the package has between 1 and 5 VirusTotal detections associated with it.
This is not enough detections to prevent the approval of this package version.

Pauby (reviewer) on 18 May 2024 07:40:29 +00:00:

Hi, a couple of issues / suggestions / questions:

  1. Can you use a static CDN for your <iconUrl> - githack.com and jsdelivr.com are popular. See https://docs.chocolatey.org/en-us/create/create-packages#package-icon-guidelines
  2. Can you add a <summary> field?
  3. Can you start your PowerShell scripts with $ErrorAction = 'Stop'?
  4. Portable applications don't normally place their files in Program Files as the user typically does not have admin rights. Is this what you intended?
  5. You're using assoc and ftype in your PowerShell scripts but these are not Windows native commands and require to be installed. They also require admin rights to run which a user of a portable application will not have?
  6. On line 38 of chocolateyInstall.ps1 you are using the absolute path to the infekt-win32.exe but you put it into $env:ProgramFiles which are not necessarily the same thing.
  7. On line 29 and 35 of chocolateyInstall.ps1 you're constructing the path for the shortcut. Depending on the OS version, this may not be correct. Using [Environment]::GetFolderPath('Programs'), or [Environment]::GetFolderPath('CommonPrograms'), or others, may be better options.
  8. On lines 31, 32, 37 and 38 of chocolateyInstall.ps1 you're launching cmd.exe. I don't think that is necessary as you're already in PowerShell.

Thanks.

Pauby (reviewer) on 18 May 2024 07:41:36 +00:00:

The package was exempted because "This needs to be exempted from the test environment verification. The installer doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows Server". Removing the exemption as the installer has been removed and the application is now portable-like.

Pauby (reviewer) on 18 May 2024 07:42:05 +00:00:

Running Verifier as the package does not have an installer.
Verification Status Change - Verification tests have been set to rerun.

infekt has passed automated package testing (verification). The next step in the process is package scanning.

Description

A text viewer application that has been carefully designed around its main task: viewing and presenting NFO files. It comes with three different view modes (Rendered, Classic and Text Only), export functionality and lots of options!

The GUI version works on Windows 10 and up. You can use previous iNFekt versions for Windows 2000, XP, 7. The CLI version is supported on Windows and Linux.

iNFekt is a native application written in C++. It uses the Cairo open source graphics libraries. Where available, rendering uses multi-core CPUs and is accelerated by GPU hardware.

In cases where actual malware is found, the packages are subject to removal. Software sometimes has false positives. Moderators do not necessarily validate the safety of the underlying software, only that a package retrieves software from the official distribution point and/or validate embedded software against official distribution point (where distribution rights allow redistribution).

Chocolatey Pro provides runtime protection from possible malware.
